5th plenary meeting of the ENVIE Network - 21- 23 September 2026, INRAE, Versailles, France

MULTISTRESS satellite workshop

Plant diseases result from complex interactions between the host plant, pathogens and the environment, meaning that plants must simultaneously cope with both biotic and abiotic stresses. While bipartite interactions have been extensively studied, the effects of combined stresses on plant immunity and pathogen virulence remain poorly understood. This issue has become particularly important in the context of global change, which alters species distributions, promotes the emergence of new pathogens and compromises the effectiveness of some plant resistances. Understanding the mechanisms regulating plant immunity and pathogen virulence under multiple stresses is therefore essential for developing efficient and sustainable plant health management strategies.

Given the growing number of research teams and scientists initiating or planning projects on this topic, the network "Impact of ENvironment on plant immunity and pathogen VIrulencE" (ENVIE) was established in 2021.
This network aims to:
1) to promote knowledge sharing,
2) to encourage the development of interdisciplinary collaborative projects
3) and to contribute to strategic thinking in this field.

In 2026, the 5th plenary meeting of the ENVIE network (Impact of ENvironment on plant Immunity and pathogen VirulencE) will take place from September 21 (starting at 2:00 pm) to September 23 (ending at 12:00 pm) at the INRAE Île-de-France-Versailles-Saclay Center.

This year, the event is jointly organized with the 3rd annual symposium (website) of the Institut Jean-Pierre Bourgin for Plant Sciences (IJPB), dedicated to “Chemical interactions between plants and their environment: from molecule to field”.

The 2026 edition will bring together national and international researchers and experts around a scientific program structured into four half-day sessions, the themes and invited speakers of which are listed below.

MULTISTRESS satellite workshop sessions:
1 - Ecophysiology of combined stresses
2 - Multiomics integration of combined stresses
3 - One Health – crop diversification and climate change
4 - Multistress phenotyping
